Our Concerts

Programme

classical concerts

Our popular concerts are held twice a year, once at the end of May and the other at Christmas. Performances are always held in Marbella and one other area such as Fuengirola, Benalmádena or Mijas.

As our concerts are mainly given in churches this, to a great extent, determines our repertoire. We have performed repertoires such as Haydn’s “Missa Cellensis” and “Te Deum”, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Gounod’s “Messe Solonnelle de Sainte Cecile” and the “Te Deum” and Mass in B flat by Hummel.

Other recent performances have included large-scale choral music from the Baroque such as Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, excerpts from Bach’s cantatas and his “Christmas Oratorio” and Handel’s “Messiah”. Music from the Classical period has included Mozart’s “Requiem” and “Coronation Mass” and from the Romantic period music such as Mendelssohn’s “Hymn of Praise” and several of his Psalm settings. In 2014 we performed John Rutter’s “Magnificat”.

We also offer a platform for exceptional instrumental soloists, many of whom live in this region, to feature in the concerts. In recent years these have included Haydn’s Trumpet and Cello Concertos, Mozart’s Violin Concerto, Bruch’s Violin Concerto and Handel’s Harp Concerto.

ENGAGEMENTS

We are also available to sing and play at other events, such as celebratory masses, weddings, baptisms and funerals.

Previous engagements include participating in the “Pregón” of the Holy Week in Fuengirola and the International Service of Carols and Lessons in Marbella, San Pedro and Los Boliches-

Choir and Orchestra “Collegium Musicum Costa del Sol”

FAVOURITE CLASSICS

Collegium Musicum invites audiences to an unforgettable  musical evening, celebrating the beauty, drama, and emotional power of choral and orchestral music. On 17th & 19th May, the choir and orchestra will perform a dazzling array of works spanning centuries, styles, and continents.

Experience the soaring melodies of classical choral masterpieces, the evocative harmonies of modern compositions, and the passionate intensity of iconic operatic arias and choruses. Audiences will be moved by lyrical vocal works, rich orchestral textures, and stirring solos for cello and tenor voice.

We are pleased to feature a young tenor from Malaga, who will perform three well-known arias Nessun dorma by Puccini  and  Una furtiva lacrima by Donizetti as well as a wonderful local cellist and harpist.

This concert offers something for everyone—from moments of quiet reflection to jubilant celebration—showcasing music that has inspired generations and continues to resonate today.
